I´ve been working on my Kaqchikel for about 8 hours a day.  It is getting better, but eqal eqal (slowly).

Nervous

As I mentioned I leave tomorrow for 7 weeks of fieldwork in Guatemala.
For the first two weeks I'll be in Mayan towns in the highlands doing a language school.  For the month after that I'll be going between Antigua and the Pacific coast.  I'll have access to the interwebs- off and on. And will try to update how it all goes along the way.

So I'm trying to pack and get it all done.  A nice addition is a new K*ndl* from my parents.  Now I'll have some fiction reading to take my mind off things when it gets a little to heavy!
I'm a little nervous and have that weird b.o. you get when you travel internationally... yep no amount of secret is going to help me.  So I apologize, in advance, to the person sitting next to me tomorrow.  Maybe it will be a Peace Corps worker who smells worse than me already.

Wheels Up

Sunday morning at 6:20 I leave for the field for 7 weeks.  Exciting and terrifying at the same time...

The times they are a changing

The tides are shifting... today I'm working on the last paper I'll ever write for a class.  No, this by far is not the last paper I'll ever write... there is at least one more big one!  But it is the last paper with a due date, page requirements, etc. (well, until grant applications).  Ok fine...it never ends, but let me enjoy the thought that the end is in sight for just today.
