Spring Breaking

Another restful week on the beach as Spring Break comes to a close...

Oysters for TM and crackers with cocktail sauce for me

Margaritas, beers, full moons, and the beach...this is the life

How grad school should be everyday

But I don't want to leave the beach or my margarita!
We're back in big square state and it is snowing- we have a fire.

A Day in the Life

7:21: Wake up- feeling motivated & I can still catch the 8:20 bus!
8:15: Up the hill to the bus stop, holy shit it is is cold.
8:26: Make it on bus.  Students ride for free! Continue my conversation on my cell phone in hushed tones.
Look lady, quit giving me the stink eye, bus time is my time.
8:30: Realize that lady's stink eye face is just her face.  Remember that only pensioners and crazies ride the bus.  Which one am I?
9:00 Arrive in shared office, smells vaguely like patchouli and feet, but I'm here and getting stuff done!
9:15: Sustenance needed, go down the stairs for a diet coke, machine gives you a cherry coke instead.
9:17: Dignity left a long time ago- eat peanut butter and jelly out of a tupperware container because you don't have any bread...ohh I just found a stale pretzel in my desk drawer!
9:32: Check emails for 3rd time today.  Still nothing new.
10:45: Finished homework for class at 4! Reward check email.

10:46: Ignore important emails from university on to facebook!
11:00: After after facebook stalking of my friends who didn't choose graduate school I realize that graduate school does the opposite of make you cute and fashionable.
12:15: Walk 20 min across campus to pick up birth control because there is no bus that goes to that part of campus.  Campus administrators are assholes.
12:40: Realize the campus pharmacist the only person who appreciates my wit and humor.
12:50: Walk back up the hill only to be passed by two buses, realize that I am the asshole.
1:15: Meetings in the Student Union where everyone is watching the game.  MMM free hotdog!  I'll start my diet tomorrow.
3:45: Run to class while trying to check facebook on my phone!
6:30: Class is over wait for TM to pick me up.
7:15: Finally give up pretending that I am reading about civil society as a democraticizing institution and just watch TV.
8:45: Console myself: I can watch TV and take notes on readings at the same time.
10:00: Whoops! Just spent the last hour looking at kitten videos online.

Rodeo Time

Last week TM and I braved what I hope is our LAST snow storm to get the hell out of town!  We went to the big H to see Mama and Daddy.  It was a great break from the cold and "flatness" of the midwest.

We ate our way across the city: BBQ and a corndog at the Rodeo, Mexican food (x2), Lebanese food, and South American food.  I got a birthday treat of a salt scrub and massage.  But the highlight was watching the trail riders come down Memorial parkway!
The littlest cowgirl

Riders heading in

It was such a nice trip, but too short.  The icing on the cake was our hour in the airport.   This woman who chose to "juggle" i.e. swing balls on a rope in the boarding area.  Sorry for the photo quality this was the best I could do while appearing to text.
